How manual sheet metal
bending works

In metalworking, the ability to bend sheet metal manually is a fundamental skill that contributes to improving the quality and reputation of a company.

Benders are responsible for executing and completing bending operations according to project specifications.

Material Preparation

Before starting, the benders check that the sheet metal is clean and free of contaminants or surface defects. They are the first to ensure the quality of the part, carefully examining anything that might adversely affect the final result.

Technical drawing analysis

Although the press brake is programmed, the operator must have an in-depth knowledge of the technical drawing to ensure that the measurements are accurately followed. Understanding how the sheet is to be bent is an integral part of his task, allowing him to intervene in good time to avoid errors that would lead to rejects.

Familiarity with the folding machine

The operator positions the sheet metal between the punch and the die of the bending machine, verifying that it is correctly aligned along the bending line. Using the press, he applies the necessary pressure to bend the metal evenly, thus avoiding unwanted deformations. Accompanying the sheet metal during the process is essential to properly manage its natural movement.
